Lagos: Baba Ijesha charged to court

Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju James popularly known as Baba Ijesha has been charged to court for alleged sexual harassment, the Lagos State Police Command affirms Baba Ijesha was taken to court in a black maria vehicle of the Rapid Response Squad. Baba Ijesha has been in police custody since April 22, 2021, when the Lagos State Police Command announced his arrest for allegedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in the care of popular comedienne, Adekola Adekanya, otherwise called Princess. Why i sang "Oniduro Mi" --- Tolu Adelegan

Nigerian gospel artiste, Evangelist Toluwalase Adelegan, has reacted to the comment from her colleague, Tope Alabi, condemning the song ‘Oniduro mi’. Adelegan, in an exclusive chat with The PUNCH, noted that although Adeyinka Alaseyori also has a similar song, which was released earlier this year.  Evang. Tolu Adelegan who was a Gospel artiste based in Ondo State was the original owner of the song "Oniduro Mi she said "i was inspired to write and sing ‘Oniduro Mi’ as far back as 2016 due to the tribulations she was facing at the time. Popular Nigerian gospel singer Tope Alabi has come under fire for criticising her colleague Adeyinka Alaseyori over her popular hit song titled ‘Oniduro Mi eseun o’ (my guarantor, I’m grateful). In a video making the rounds on social media, Tope Alabi said God isn’t her guarantor because He’s more than a guarantor. According to Tope Alabi, if Adeyinka Alaseyori had sang the song from the Holy Spirit’s leading, she would understand that God is more than a guarantor and will not say such a word. An Instagram blogger identified as aprokolandlord who shared the video said he’s a big fan of Tope Alabi; however, it is wrong and petty to publicly criticise such a song. Protesters In Akure, the Ondo state capital has arrested a Gombe state inscribed bus and some youths armed with some local guns. Rugipo student wins sport competition on radio

By Olatunde Bele, Owo A student of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ilesanmi Olalekan has won an open sport competition set up by Orange 94.5 F.M, Akure, Ondo State. He was crowned champion during a phone-in programme today Saturday, 12th of June, 2021., after he successfully answered a series of questions by the Presenter, Mr. Seun Owoseni (The Big Seun). Olalekan, who is an H.N.D.2 student of Mass Communication Department and doubles to be the Chief Reporter of RUGIPO Press Council has now won this competition for the second time consecutively. However, in a telephone interview with the prize winner, Olalekan said ''Am surprised. I didn't know I will win, because I just used my idea''. Speaking on the reward to be given as a winner, he stressed that the radio station (Orange F.M). would get back to him as they have always done.

Just In: Court of appeal fixes judgment day for Jegede, Akeredolu.

The Court of Appeal sitting in Akure, has declare Wednesday 16th of June, 2021 as judgement day in the appeal brought before it by candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Eyitayo Jegede, in the October 10, 2020 election. It was learnt from a PDP source that the judgment date had been communicated to all parties. The three-man panel led by Justice Theresa Ngolika Orji-Abadua, had sat on the case after Jegede’s counsel, Oyeachi Ikpeazu, SAN, had canvassed in his submission why Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and his Deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa should be sacked saying they were not properly nominated by their party, the All Progressives Congress (APC). Counsel to Akeredolu and Aiyedatiwa, APC and INEC; Akin Olujimi, Lateef Fagbemi and Charles Edosanmwon, however faulted Jegede’s arguments saying the case was a pre-election matter. By David Fidelis Angry youths defile the conventional way of celebrating Democracy Day in Akure, the Ondo State capital on Saturday by occupying major roads in Protest against bad governance, kidnapping, banditry, unemployment and high price of commodities. The Protesters matched round Akure metropolis including the popular oba Adesida Road, Arakale, Ondo road, Nepa, Hospital and Oyemekun. The Protesters carried placards with various inscriptions such as “Buhari must go, constitutional review is a scam, we say no kidding, we say no to banditry , end terrorising” among others.
