Ondo: "Give Selfless Service to Nigeria, State coord tells corps members

The NYSC Ondo State Coordinator, Mrs. Victoria Nnenna Ani has enjoined the outgoing corps members not to relent but to continue to give selfless service to the country. The State Coordinator made the statement during the farewell address read to the 2020 Batch 'B' (Stream 1) members of the service corps that have successfully completed the one year national service to the fatherland. Second semester: Rugipo announces New Resumption date

By Michael Olorunwa Isiaka, Owo Following the crisis that impede the commencement of the Second Semester for the unconcluded 2020/2021 Academic Session,  the Management of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State (RUGIPO) has rescheduled the date for Friday, 29th of October, 2021 and academic activities would commence on Monday, 1st of November, 2021. This new development was made known in a Circular Letter signed and released by the institution's Director of Academic Affairs, Gbenga Gbemiluyi on behalf of the school Registrar on Wednesday According to the letter, students should resume for the semester on Friday, 29th of October, 2021 while academic activities would regain normalcy on Monday, 1st of November, 2021 respectively. Man electrocuted in Ondo

  By   Adeboye Ado, Akungba A man simply identified as Oluomo has been electrocuted in Akungba, Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State.  The incident happened very close to Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) office in the community.  Sources hinted that the deceased was trying to reconnect wires on a pole when he was electrocuted yesterday around 9pm.  Another source also disclosed that Oluomo attempted to make an illegal connection on a pole when he met his untimely death.  Community leaders and BEDC management have continue to caution residents and electricity customers tampering with public utility cables and infrastructure. 

Ondo: Police apprehends pastor for raping a teenager

By Ogungbure Funmilayo For allegedly raping and impregnating a sixteen year old girl (name withheld) at Ogbese town in Akure North local government area of Ondo state, the Ondo state Police Command has apprehended a sixty-one year-old clergyman, Pastor Famakinwa Ajayi.  Report says, the Pastor who had deflowered the girl was said to have slept with her in open market. Parading the suspect before journalists in Akure, spokesperson of the command, Funmilayo Odunlami said the suspect will be charged to court after the completion of the investigation. She said, “Famakinwa Ajayi Aged 61 years who is a clergy man impregnated the sixteen year- old girl. ”The victim stated further that the suspect was the one who deflowered her in his house and had taken her to a market square at night and had carnal knowledge of her under the pretence of taking her for spiritual deliverance. “The suspect confessed to have slept with her once in his living room. Lawson, In a telephone interview with our correspondent on Monday explained that the concerned bodies will hold a congress meeting on Wednesday or Thursday (20th or 21st of October, 2021), in order to deliberate, resolve issues and return to the normal school activities. It will be recalled that Non Academic Staff Union (NASU) and the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnic (SANIP) began an indefinite strike on Friday, 15th of October, 2021; and continued on Monday, 18th, which was the day of resumption for all returning students to commence the Second Semester, for 2020/2021 Academic Session.
