The SECAM President and Archbishop of Kinshasa, Fridolin Cardinal Ambongo, made the call in a solidarity statement on Thursday in Ibadan, Oyo. President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to return into circulation the old N200 notes. The President gave the order in a broadcast on Thursday morning. He said the old N200 note will be spent alongside the new notes of N200, N500 and N1000. He said the old N200 note will be spent till April 10, 2023. The Supreme Court of Nigeria has adjourned the case on the naira swap policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) till Wednesday, February 22 for hearing of the consolidated suits by 10 states. The apex court, which heard the case on Wednesday, was filled to capacity with a retinue of Senior Advocates of Nigeria, other lawyers and the governors of Kaduna and Kogi states, Nasir El-Rufai and Yahaya Bello, respectively. At the last hearing, the Court had temporarily banned the implementation of the February 10 deadline of the CBN from making the old N200, N500 and N1,000 notes legal tender. The Zamfara, Kogi and Kaduna states had instituted the suit against the Federal Government and the CBN.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has said it will prosecute point-of-sales (POS) operators who collect exorbitant charges on transactions. The CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele said this on Tuesday during a meeting with members of the diplomatic corps. Emefiele who acknowledged the inconveniences caused by the Naira redesign policy, including hoarding and an elevated agitation, promised to sanction the POS operators who charge above the stipulated amount. The CBN Governor, however, reiterated the benefits of the Naira redesign, arguing that it has helped in reducing inflation and is leading to moderation in exchange rates. He noted that while the transition to embracing the new Naira notes may be challenging, its benefits are enormous. He appealed to Nigerians to accept the policy.

The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General YD Ahmed, DSS, fdc, MTRCN, MNARC has charged corps members to strive to meet the expectations and aspirations of Nigeria towards the progress and development of the country . Brigadier General Ahmed made the charge in his address at the closing ceremony of the 2023 Batch 'A' (Stream 1) orientation course held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ikare-Akoko.
