Jegede unveils Ogunje as running mate

The name of Hon. Olumide Ogunje has been submitted as the running mate to PDP candidate in the October 10 governorship election in Ondo state. His name was submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission. Ogunje is a lawyer from Irele local government and Senior Legislative Aide to Hon. Ikengboju Gboluga. His name appeared in the provisional names of candidates and their deputies as released by INEC on Friday, July 31. It was however gathered that his name may be substituted as INEC rule still provides for name substitution before August 18, 2020.

Ondowidows’care: COVID-19 Palliatives covers South Senatorial District

The Ondowidows’care initiative under the leadership of  the wife of Ondo State Governor, Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu  has successfully  covers the Southern Senatorial district today in Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo local government  by distributing COVID -19  Palliatives to widows in the area.  The initiative has now captured 12 Local Government areas of the state with no fewer than 5,000 beneficiaries. COVID-19: Tisco industries donates items to Ondo State

To curb  the spread of the coronavirus in the state,  T isco industries limited has donated antiseptic liquids, sanitisers, table water and liquid germicide to Ondo State government.  In his speech, when presenting the items  at the ministry of health, Alagbaka Akure  on Wednesday, The  chairman of the company, Isaac Tapere, said the fight against Covid-19 should be a collective one. He said it was in that regard that the company donated the items. According to Tapere, even though it was the responsibility of the government to stop the spread of the virus, the government alone could not fight the battle alone. Speaking in the same vein, Benji Oloye, the acting managing director, Tisco industries limited, said “we just felt that we should do our own bit to curtail the Covid-19 pandemic in the state. Man beats pregnant wife to death in Ondo

For allegedly killing his pregnant wife identified as Blessing,  Oluwaseun Olabode,(Husband) has been arraigned before an Ondo State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Akure on a  count charge of murder.  Olabode was arrested by the police at the Oke Ogba area of Akure for allegedly killing the deceased by hitting her in the abdomen. Police prosecutor, Inspector Uloh Goodluck, said the offence is punishable under Section 319 (1) of the Criminal Code, Cap 36, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State. According to him, the court should remand defendant in police custody pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions. Counsel to the defendant, Mr A. Ololike, did not oppose the remand application. The trial Magistrate, Mr N. T. Aladejana, ordered that Oluwaseun be remanded in police custody pending legal advice from the DPP and adjourned the case till September 8, 2020, for mentioning.

The Ondo State Inter-ministerial Committee on Coronavirus (COVID-19) wishes to inform the general public that  Government will not tolerate any form of religious, social or public gathering during the 2020 Eid id Kabir celebration in the State. The Chairman of the Inter-ministerial Committee, Prof. Adesegun Fatusi stated this in Akure  at the end of the Committee's meeting, where he noted that there is need for the people to support the government in stemming down the spread of Coronavirus in the State. Widows recieve COVID-19 Palliatives from Mrs Akeredolu in Ile-Oluji

Widows in Ile-Oluji trooped out in hundreds today to receive the food items brought to them under  Ondowidows’care programme  by the wife of Ondo State Governor, Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu.  A song,  “Ebi Oni payin o”, (i.e, you will not experience hunger) was sang by the beneficiaries, to thank Her Excellency for the Ondowidows’care initiatives.  At the local government Secretariat where the COVID-19 Palliatives were given to the widows, the beneficiaries were elated that the items got to them without not being diverted to other quarters by those in charge. Embattled Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Agboola Ajayi was on Tuesday, sighted at the Niger Governor’s Lodge, Abuja. Coincidentally, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and the Deputy Leader, Robert Ajayi Borofice were also at the Lodge for a Peace meeting with governor Abubakar Sanni Bello. Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu has revealed the name of his preferred running mate to members of his inner caucus on Tuesday. Triangle Media revealed that Governor Akeredolu has settled for the choice of a former Ondo State representative on the Board of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mr Lucky Ayedatiwa. The appointee, Lucky Ayedatiwa who hails from Ilaje Local Government Area will run with Akeredolu in the October 10 election if the name remains unsubstituted until after August 18, 2020. Akeredolu okays payment of six months deductions, hazard allowance for health workers

Ondo State Government has approved full payment of deductions for the state from February to June 2020. It has also approved payment of 68% June salary and pension of the local government service and 2018 leave bonus for workers for grade seven to 17 in all services. Also approved is the Special COVID-19 hazard and risk allowance for May 2020 for  medical and health workers be paid without any delay. Secondary schools to resume August 4

Secondary schools in the country are to reopen as from the 4th of August, 2020 for exit classes only. Students will have two weeks within which to prepare for the West African Examinations (WAEC) due to start on the 17th of August, 2020. These were the unanimous decisions reached today at a virtual consultative meeting between   the Federal Ministry of Education, Commissioners of Education of the 36 states, the Nigerian Union of Teachers, (NUT), the proprietors of private schools, and Chief Executives of examination bodies. Ondo Govt set to reopen schools

The Ondo State government has given conditions for reopening schools in the state, as the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology released guideline for schools reopening in the state. The guidelines were announced during a meeting with the executives of All Nigeria Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools, ANCOPSS, held at Fiwasaye Girls Grammars School, Akure. The Commissioner for the Ministry, Mr Femi Agagu disclosed that the meeting was called with the view to carrying all stakeholders in the education sectors along in the drive to open schools in Ondo State. According to him, the first on the guidelines was the sensitization meeting which begin with principals of public secondary schools across the state, and would be followed with private schools and the Parent Teachers Association (PTA). Sorting of ballot papers is yet to commence more than one hour after voting ended at the ongoing governorship primary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State. Introduction of fresh 17 names after delegates have voted is causing fresh crisis. Many of the aspirants insisted the names were strange to them. The Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi- led Committee went to a closed door meeting for over 30 minutes and came out without declaring what to do with the list. Court to fix judgment date by next adjournment

From all indications, the court would fix judgment date by the next adjournment for adoption of written adresses by both parties in the ongoing kidnap case at Sotitobire Praising Chapel. How a trader, driver was kidnapped in Ondo

Two persons have been  kidnaped  on the road between Ugbe in Akoko northeast and oka in Akoko southwest areas of Ondo State. Positive Fm report that, the two persons, a man and a woman were said to be travelling on the road when the incident occurred. The woman , a textile trader and her driver were said to have been abducted by unknown gunmen while taking some textile materials to Oka. The woman’s husband ,Mr Akogun disclosed that the vehicle they were traveling in was abandoned on the road. He said the kidnappers were yet to contact the family members.
