Gunmen abduct Chinese expatriate, kill policeman in Ekiti

An unidentified Chinese expatriate who was working with a Chinese company was reportedly abducted by unknown gunmen along New Ado-Iyin road in Ekiti State   Report says, the Chinese was working  directly with a Chinese company handling a twin carriage road in the state.  A police officer was reportedly killed during the incident while another person was shot. According to the state’s police spokesman, ASP Sunday Abutu, the incident occurred around 4.30pm. Abutu said, “It is confirmed that a kidnapping incident occurred today at about 4:30pm along New Iyin road . “During the incident, one civilian, an expatriate, was kidnapped, one shot, while one policeman was shot dead. “Our operatives are already combing the bush for possible apprehension of the perpetrators.” However, the spokesman enjoined residents of the state to be calm as the command will do everything possible to rescue the victim unharmed and arrest the culprits.

Man bags life imprisonment for raping his daughter in Ondo

For allegedly raping his daughter, Olusola Alo (father) has been sentenced to life imprisonment by an Akure High Court  According to report,  Alo has been having  having sexual intercourse with his daughter since when she was 10 years old. The mother of the girl was said to have left her when she was six months old. According to police prosecutor,  the rape incident was exposed when the girl  claimed at a students’ fellowship meeting that somebody was already having sex with her. The girl explained that her father would demand sex anytime she requested money from him for school fees and for personal upkeep. He, however, pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge of rape preferred against him. Justice Samuel Bola in his judgement, held that the evidence of the victim that the defendant demanded sexual intercourse from her before he acceded to her requests was true. Ondo Chief of Staff's Wife abducted

Barely 24 hours after kidnappers murdered Oba Adegoke Isreal Adeusi, traditional ruler of Ifon in Ose Local Government Area of the Ondo State, the wife  of Mr Olugbenga Ale, Chief of Staff to Ondo State governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, has been abducted by suspected gunmen. Report says, the woman was kidnapped in the Owena area of Ondo State on Thursday night, community sources confirmed to SaharaReporters. One of the sources told SaharaReporters that Mrs Ale was on transit when the bandits abducted her. He added that the gunmen ran into the bush after abducting the woman. “The woman was abducted at Owena along Ondo Road. “The case has been reported to the security agencies especially the Amotekun and army to comb everywhere and we are expecting a feedback soon.” An aide to Governor Akeredolu, who asked not to be named, also confirmed the incident, noting that it occurred late on Thursday. The monarch was killed while returning to his domain after attending the council of Obas meeting in Akure. He was rushed to the Federal medical centre Owo where he died of gunshots injuries. Iroju's removal voided --- Nine lawmakers

Newsline NG  Nine members of the Ondo State House of Assembly have rejected the purported removal of Rt Hon Ogundeji Iroju as the Deputy Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly. The House had yesterday said 20 out of 26 lawmakers impeached Iroju and elected Hon Samuel Aderoboye as the Deputy Speaker. The Assembly members who are anti-impeachment of the Deputy Governor, Hon Agboola Ajayi and are also against the purported removal of Ogundeji included Rasheed Elegbeleye, Suleiman Jamiu Maito, Adewale Williams-Adewinle, Festus Akingbaso, Ogundeji Iroju, Favour Tomomowo, and Tomide Akinribido. The lawmakers described the impeachment as unlawful as it did not meet the required constitution requirements for the impeachment of the Deputy Speaker. Ondo state house of Assembly has impeached the deputy speaker, Hon. Iroju Ogundeji. He was impeached for alleged gross misconduct which has brought disrepute to the hallowed chamber He was immediately replaced by Hon. Aderoboye. Iroju representing Odigbo constituency 2 was impeached following the house resolutions led by the speaker, Rt. Hon. Bamidele Oloyelogun. Twenty lawmakers signed the impeachment. Following the reconstitution of the House, Hon. Tomide Akinribido has been removed as the minority leader and replaced by Hon. Festus Akingbaso from PDP while Hon. It was a black Friday today as Seven persons, lost their lives in a fatal accident  Reports says, one Amaka, who is the wife of a former Senate Leader, Senator Ndoma Egba, also lost her lives, while not less than eight others, were critically injured,  The accident involving four vehicles,  according to a source, are a commercial Toyota Avensis car bus, a Honda car, a truck and a Toyota Coaster bus belonging to the Sports Centre of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA). Sources revealed that four of the victims were said to be heading for the burial of Chief Olusola Oke’s mother holding in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State. The Federal High Court, Abuja, today fixed Dec. 14 for judgment in a suit challenging the validity of the primary election that produced Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State as All Progressives Congress (APC)’s candidate in the Oct. 10 poll. Justice Okon Abang fixed the date after taking arguments from parties in the suit with number: FHC/ABJ/CS/886/2020 filed on Aug. 3 by Dr Nath Adojutelegan, an APC governorship aspirant in the state election. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that in the suit, the APC, Akeredolu and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) are 1st to 3rd respondents respectively. Adojutelegan, who along with others lost the primary election to Akeredolu, had challenged the poll’s outcome. Kidnapped Market Women freed in Ondo

Ondo state Police command with the support of other security agencies has rescue some market women who were kidnapped along Akure - Owo road on Thursday.  The Spokesman of the Ondo state police command Mr. Tee-Leo Ikoro made this disclosure in a chat with Peoples’ Information Network. He said, ten out of the kidnapped victims were rescued during a gun duel with the bandits while four of the kidnappers have been arrested. Ikoro added that efforts were ongoing to rescue the remaining victims. Tribunal grants Jegede’s order to inspect INEC materials

The Ondo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Akure has granted the Govenorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Eyitayo Jegede the leeway to inspect the materials used for the October 10 Election. The Tribunal headed by Justice Umar Abubakar also granted an order for substituted service to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu. In an exparte order, Justice Abubakar who led other two judges of the tribunal granted the orders moved by one of the counsel of Jegede, Jamiu Makinde. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Governor Akeredolu, as the winner of just concluded Ondo State Governorship election. Accident: Akeredolu expresses displeasure over the incident in Akungba

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, today, visited the scene of the accident that occurred last night in Akungba Akoko where so many lives were lost.  The Governor who came to the scene about 1pm, expressed displeasure at the incident.  The Governor attributed many of the accidents to recklessness on  the part of drivers.  Akeredolu said, "when we heard the incident that many  people died, it was pathetic, something bad has happened, we will ensure to support victims at the hospital " "Many of accidents are caused by reckless driving.  I want to appeal to our people, insurance shall cover many of the expenses, we must get the owner of the trailer and get their insurance company" Earlier, the traditional ruler of the University community, Oba Sunday Adeyeye, Ajimo III, thanked the Governor for the timely visit.  The monarch, also  asked for compensation for the loss of lives and the hospitalised victims.  He, however, ap...

Three kidnapped victims regain freedom in Ondo

The three men, who were abducted few days ago by gunmen in Ikakumo, Akoko north west local government area of ondo state, have regained their freedom.  The victims were abducted while travelling  along route that shared boundary with Edo state.  Confirming their release, the Regent of Akunu Akoko, Princess Tolani Orogun, said the victims were released after payment of unspecified amount was paid.
