Angry youth attack Ondo Commissioner

Ondo state Commissioner for Works,  Saka Ogunleye has been allegedly  attacked by some angry youth alongside other people at Iju community in Akure North local government area of Ondo state on Thursday.  Reports says, Ogunleye was in the community to attend a meeting on the membership registration and validation of the All Progressives Congress (APC). It was also learnt that some minutes after the arrival of Ogunleye, the irate youths besieged Iju town hall venue of the meeting,with harmful objects and descended on the commissioner as many members were reportedly injured. COVID-19: Makinde inaugurates committee on economic stimulus programme

In a bid to mitigate the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in the state, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has inaugurated the Steering Committee on COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus Programme (State CARES) in the state.  The governor, while inaugurating members of the nine-man steering committee at the Executive Chamber of the Governor's Office, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan on Thursday, said that the programme was meant for post-COVID-19 economic recovery. A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, quoted Governor Makinde as explaining that the programme will focus on three major areas, including expanding access to livelihood support, food security services and grants for the poor and vulnerable households and firms in the state. Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, on Wednesday, met with President Muhammadu Buhari to discuss the security situation in the state, declaring that his administration remains resolute about fighting bandits, hoodlums, armed robbers and kidnappers. Makinde, who addressed State House Correspondents in Abuja said that the real enemies of the state are the criminal elements. He equally sought for greater synergy between the state and the federal security agencies, noting that collaborations are required for the state’s security plans to work effectively. EndSARS: Oyo judicial panel begins public hearing.

The Oyo State Judicial Panel of Inquiry set up by Governor Seyi Makinde to look into cases of victimisation and brutality by the Police, on Tuesday, began a public hearing on the petitions filed by victims of alleged Police brutality in the state. While speaking at the first sitting, which was held at the House of Chiefs, Secretariat, Ibadan, the chairman of the panel, retired Honourable Justice Badejoko Adeniji, assured members of the public that justice will be dispensed without fear or favour. How Sunday Igboho’s House was razed down by fire ---- Oyo Police

Oyo State Police Command has disclosed that unidentified hoodlums are responsible for the burning of Sunday Igboho’s house at SOKA area of Ibadan. The Police noted that the hoodlums came to the house in the early hours of Tuesday in a Hummer bus and Micra firing sporadically, and later set the house ablaze. A pan-Yorba social cultural organization, the Agbajowo Advocacy for Yoruba People's Right (AAYPR) has pledges it's support for the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, over what it called his efforts at safeguarding the people of the state. Suspected kidnappers apprehended in Ondo

Two young men have been arrested in Supare Akoko in Akoko south west local government area of Ondo state while trying to abduct a child in his family house. The two suspected kidnappers were caught after pretending  like scavengers looking for used iron and plastic materials to buy. A source said  that the two suspects were tackled  when the mother of the child  noticed their movement and the bag they wanted to use to carry the child. The mother of the boy, it was gathered immediately raised alarm and the people in the neighbourhood assisted her in apprehending the suspects who attempted to escape. They two hoodlums have been handed over to the police at Supare Akoko for furthrt investigation. Efforts to get the Divisional police officer of Supare Akoko, CSP Akintoye Samuel to comment on the issue proved abortive as at the time of filing in the report.

Some yet-to-be identified persons suspected to be students of the Adekunle Ajasin university Akungba Akoko were announced dead in Akungba Akoko, Ondo State  They died as a result of a motor accident which involve a Dangote truck which suddenly lost control and rammed into where people are gathered at the main entrance of the university  Five dead bodies have evacuated to a nearby hospital mortuary as at the time of filling this report In a related development, the police have confirmed that eight bodies have so far been evacuated from the scene of accident that occurred near Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba akoko on Saturday. Kidnappers meet waterloo in Ondo as Soldiers kill Four

Four suspected kidnappers has been reported dead in Ondo state  They were reported to have died in an attack with men of the Nigerian Army along Owo-Ifon Expressway, Ondo State. The kidnappers, according to report had barricaded the road, while attempting to abduct some travellers before they were attacked by the soldiers who were said to be on patrol along the expressway. It was learnt that the kidnappers had already abducted some victims when the soldiers got to the scene. According to a source, the soldiers engaged the kidnappers in a gun duel that last for almost an hour. The source added that kidnappers left the victims and ran into the forest. Confirming the incident, the spokesman of the state Police command, Mr Tee-Leo Ikoro says,  "men of the command were already in the forest in search of the bandits. But Army authorities in the state says nobody was killed in the clash .
