The Federation of Muslim Women's Association in Nigeria, FOMWAN, has called for the immediate resolve of the lingering rift between the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the Federal Government to get children back to school.
This came just as the Association passionately appealed to the three tiers of government to strive harder in the areas of education development.
The National Amirah (President) of the association, Alhaja Rafi'ah Idowu Sanni made this statements in a press conference to mark the commencement of its 2022 National conference held today in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State.
"Today being the World Literacy Day, it becomes more imperative for the government, teachers and other stakeholders to show more commitment to provision of quality education for all Nigerians.
According to her, much are also desired on healthcare services, security, Road rehabilitation and reconstruction for safety of lives and properties.
She stated that the conference would look at the theme: "Bridging the Inter-generational gaps of sustainable development": Spectrum of opportunities using the Islamic lens; With other sub-topics like; Developing effective framework towards enhancing sustainable livelihood.
She said the Conference will also shed light on women's duties, responsibilities to themselves and to the community at large, focusing on why Islamic and moral education for the children were prioritized.
Sanni observed that the major challenge is to strive to build a God-conscious and spiritually inclined generation that will take over the barton of good deeds, righteousness, dedication to faith and the best of manners.
The Amirah who reeled out the core values of the association which she said are being implemented across the nation, appreciated the fouth estate of the realm
She implored them to engage in practices that will promote national integration and peaceful co-existence among the diverse components of the nation.
She also appreciated the Rivers state Governor, Mr Ezenwo Nyesom Wike for the warm reception and demonstration of love as well as the association's Board of trustees, FOMWAN families in Nigeria, United kingdom, Ghana and Gambia.
