Southwest governors, traditional rulers, ministers and regional leaders on Wednesday met in Akure, Ondo State, to push for devolution of powers, true federalism and renewed cooperation among states in the South-West. The meeting, tagged Southwest Leaders’ Dialogue and held at the International Culture and Events Centre (The Dome), was hosted by the Ondo State Governor, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, with the theme, “Strengthening Democracy Through Dialogue: Assessing Progress, Charting the Future.” In his address, Governor Aiyedatiwa said democracy must be strengthened through institutional reforms and open dialogue between the federal and state governments. “Today, we stand at a threshold of history. Prof. Adedayo Afe has advocated the urgent need for the rehabilitation of the Nigerian judicial system through adequate funding that will guarantee both administrative and financial independence. Osoka made the remark on Thursday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibadan. He said regular upper gastrointestinal surveillance was necessary for those with inherited conditions that increase the risk of gastric cancer. According to Osoka,   stomach cancer, also known as gastric cancer, occurs when normal cells in the stomach lining begin to grow and divide uncontrollably, resulting in the formation of a tumor. Popular radio presenter, Dele Adeyanju, has expressed gratitude to God after surviving a road accident that occurred on Friday, October 24, 2025, around 12:43 p.m. Adeyanju shared the news on his social media page, describing the experience as a day he “won’t forget in a hurry.” According to him, though the crash could have been worse, no life was lost, and all the victims are currently responding to treatment. He attributed the accident to negligence and alleged drunkenness on the part of a mechanic contracted to fix the vehicle.  “The so-called mechanic decided to mix alcohol with responsibility,” he wrote, adding that the man had earlier been warned but ignored the caution. Late Bamidele-Ologunorisa, mother of Prof. Temi Ologunorisa, Vice Chancellor, Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH), Okitipupa, was buried with pump and pagentry at the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Akunmi-Akoko, to bid a farewell to the matriarch of the Ologunorisa dynasty. Mama Bamidele-Ologunorisa, a devouted Christian and astute entrepreneur, was born into the Fapohunda of the Arogbokun dynasty in 1930, died on July 17, at the age of 95.
