The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), RS11.2 Ondo Sector Command, has recognised a Television Continental correspondent, Ayodeji Moradeyo, with the Impressive Reporter Award in appreciation of his sustained reportage on road safety activities across the state.
Moradeyo was presented with the award during a special appreciation and get-together ceremony organised by the Corps in Akure, the Ondo State capital. The event brought together officers, stakeholders and partners committed to advancing road safety advocacy.
Also honoured at the ceremony were the Chairman of Progress Furniture, Prince Kamisi Adebiyi, alongside several officers of the command, in recognition of their support and contributions toward promoting safer roads.
While presenting the award, the Sector Commander, Samuel Ibitoye, praised Moradeyo for his professionalism, objectivity and balanced coverage of the Corps’ activities.
He noted that credible media engagement remains vital in driving public awareness and behavioural change among road users.
Ibitoye explained that the FRSC, established nearly 38 years ago, was set up to curb road traffic crashes and ensure safer highways nationwide through strategic collaboration with relevant stakeholders and sister agencies.
He acknowledged the demanding conditions under which personnel operate, particularly in rescuing accident victims and enforcing traffic regulations.
According to him, consistent public enlightenment campaigns, supported by the media, have significantly improved compliance with safety measures such as speed limits and the use of seat belts.
The Sector Commander further highlighted the positive impact of the Corps’ road traffic radio initiatives and research-driven strategies in deepening public awareness and reducing highway accidents.
He stated that the ceremony was designed to celebrate milestones and appreciate officers and partners who have shown dedication, professionalism and compassion in the discharge of their duties.
In his response, Moradeyo expressed gratitude to the Corps for the honour, describing the recognition as both inspiring and motivating. He reaffirmed his commitment to sustained, balanced reporting of FRSC programmes and initiatives aimed at protecting lives on Nigerian roads.
