Wave of Resignation hits Aiyedatiwa administration as Another Aide resigns

A Special Assistant to Lucky Aiyedatiwa on Special Duties, Yinka Richards, has resigned his appointment, deepening the wave of recent exits from the Ondo State Government.

Richards, in a resignation letter dated February 16, 2026, and addressed to the governor, said his decision would take effect from February 18, 2026.

The letter, which was e-signed by him, was formally titled “Resignation from Appointment as Special Assistant on Special Duties.”

Addressing Lucky Aiyedatiwa as “Your Excellency,” Richards expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve in the administration, describing his time in office as both an honour and a privilege.

“I write with profound respect and a deep sense of gratitude to formally tender my resignation as Special Assistant to the Governor of Ondo State on Special Duties, effective from 18th February, 2026,” he stated.

He noted that serving under the governor’s leadership offered him the rare opportunity to contribute to the developmental aspirations of Ondo State and to support the execution of the administration’s strategic objectives.

“Serving under your leadership has been a rare privilege and an honour of immense significance. The opportunity to contribute to the developmental aspirations of our dear state and to support the execution of your administration’s strategic objectives has been both professionally enriching and personally fulfilling,” Richards wrote.

The former aide explained that his decision was reached after careful reflection, stressing that it was not made lightly.

According to him, the need to focus more on his national assignment and pursue the next phase of his political and professional journey informed his resignation.

“This decision has not been made lightly. After careful reflection, I believe it is time for me to focus more on my national assignment and pursue the next phase of my political and professional journey,” he added.

Richards further expressed appreciation to the governor for the confidence reposed in him and for the platform provided to serve the people of Ondo State with dedication and integrity.

The development marks another resignation from the Aiyedatiwa administration in recent times after two of his aides had earlier tender their resignations letter.
