Endsars protest : How two police, one civilian met untimely death in Ondo

Two policemen and one civilian was confirmed dead by the  Ondo State Police Command, i n the last week’s violence that occurred as a result of ENDSARS protest in the state.  Commissioner of Police, Bolaji Salami, who spoke while parading 18 suspected looters and arsonists said the two policemen were killed in Ore and Ondo town. Bolaji said the victim in Ore was mobbed while the policeman in Ondo was killed and burnt inside his car. He said the civilian casualty was one of the three-man gang that attempted to rob a new generation bank in Ondo town. Salami said the sergeant that was killed in Ondo City, ran into the hoodlums around the palace road and was killed and burnt along with his car. The commissioner, who highlighted some of the criminal activities of the hoodlums in the state during the protest, said the carnage suffered by the Police command in the state, cannot be estimated shipping far and quick. APC, PDP supporters clash, as many injured in Akure

The clash between youths suspected to be supporters of the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party has thrown residents of Oba Nla, Oba Adesida, Arakale and Oja Oba areas of Akure into confusion. Residents and passers-by of these affected areas scampered for safety. Vehicular movement was halted during the clash for several minutes The clash is coming five days to the governorship election in the state. Eye witnesses told Thenewstrack that many people were seriously injured the clash. Trouble started late Saturday evening at Obanla Junction, Oba Adesida Road when one of the supporters of APC was allegedly beaten by that of PDP. It was gathered that APC members carried out a reprisal  attack on Sunday morning. The incident happened a  a few meters away from ‘A’ Division Police Station, Akure NewsTrack  

How political thugs attack us in Owo ---Jegede

Press Statement The convoy of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) was today attacked in Ipele and Owo township in Owo Local Government by heavily armed APC political thugs.  A PDP member by name, Hon. Amuda Sikiru, was shot in the face and abdomen during our campaign rally in Owo town by the APC thugs. The victim who is still lying unconscious was rushed to the state's specialist hospital in Akure in the Ambulance attached to the candidate's convoy.  Also wounded by the APC thugs' bullet attacks were Messes Taye Akintufede and Seun Ogunlade. They have also been rushed to the hospital. Seven political thugs remanded in Ondo

An Akure Magistrate Court today has  remanded s even suspected political thugs  to the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Service Centre, Olokuta Akure. Recalled that, the suspected thugs were arrested last week with firearms in Ose local government area of the state The Akure Magistrate Court was presided by Magistrate Tope Aladejana. The seven suspects were arrested by security agents along Ikaro road, Ifon headquarters of Ose LGA on September 19, 2020 while parading the town with a branded campaign vehicle of Eyitayo Jegede, candidate of the People’s Democratic Party for the Ondo governorship election. Jegede has since disowned the suspected thugs. Uproar in Ondo as Political Thugs kills ZLP supporter

A young man identified as Taye was reportedly killed by some  political thugs at  Alade-Idanre  in Idanre Local Government Area of Ondo State The killing was said to have been carried out on Wednesday night  by political thugs allegedly led by one Sunday Ogundiroyo (Aka Agarahu) and Bola Akinniranye. The duo were alleged to be members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) who had been unleashing mayhem on opposition party in Idanre community. The victim, Taye, was said to be a staunch supporter of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) in the community. His death has triggered political tension and panic in Idanre and neighbouring communities as protesters set bonfires at different points on the major roads of the local government headquarters. Sources revealed that the deceased was trailed down to Alade area of Idanre by his killers where he was brutally hacked down. Ondo Hospital CMD, Record Officer Abducted

The Chief Medical Director of the General Hospital in Idoani, Dr. Olufemi Adeogun has been reportedly kidnapped. It gathered that he was abducted on the bad portion of Owani/Idoani road, Ose LGA of Ondo state. Also kidnapped with the CMD was a record officer with the hospital Mrs. Foluke Ajibola and a yet to be identified victim. According to eyewitnesses,the driver of the vehicle was shot in the arm escaped from the scene. He was later rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment. (News track)

Two abducted men freed in Ondo

The two men kidnapped at Ikun Akoko in Akoko Southwest local government area of Ondo state have regained their freedom. The duo of Surajudeen Alao and Ade Ikudaisi both indigenes of Oba and Ikun were released in the early hours of Wednesday. A family member from Oba Akoko said a ransom of an undisclosed amount was paid to the abductors before releasing the victims. Residents of  both Oba and Ikun Akoko jubilated when the victims reunited with their families. Meanwhile, Residents of Akoko and travellers plying roads in the area have appealed to Government and security agencies to beef up security in on the roads especially Oba-Ikun, Afo- Idoani road. Pastor apprehended for using girl’s menstrual pad for rituals in Ondo

A pastor, Festus Adebayo has been apprehended by the police in Ondo State for allegedly conspiring with another man, Gbemisola Olafusi, to use a girl’s menstrual pad for rituals. Olafusi who is said to be dating the  20-year-old girl’s boyfriend, allegedly collected her menstrual pad and gave it to Adebayo for ritual purposes. It was gathered that the incident occurred in December 2019  at No. 17 Abayomi Upper Ayeyemi, Ondo town. It was learnt that some months after the menstrual pad was collected, the victim started experiencing some discharges from her private parts. This made the girl’s family to suspect foul play as the father of the girl reported the matter at the police station. Spokesman of the state police command, Mr Tee-Leo Ikoro confirmed the arrest of the suspects. He said investigation had commenced, stressing that “the father of the victim reported the case in Ondo that he suspected that his daughter was used for rituals by the men,”. Newstrack

Teacher sentenced to life imprisonment in Ondo

For allegedly raping a 10 year old daughter of his church’s founder at Iju in Akure North local government area, a n Ondo State High Court sitting in Akure has sentenced a paedophile teacher, Omotayo Adanlawo to life imprisonment today.  The presiding judge, Justice Samuel Bola said Adanlawo failed to give convincing evidence and testimony to prove his innocence. It was gathered that the judge described the victim as a ‘Witness of Truth’ because of the courage and precision in her testimony. Two days ago, the war against rape received a major boost as a Keke NAPEP driver, Blessing Kingsley, also bagged a life imprisonment for raping a teenager in Ondo town. Kingsley is to spend the rest of his life in prison for raping a 14-year-old girl and infecting her with Hepatitis B two years ago. A Keke NAPEP driver,  Blessing Kingsley, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for raping a teenager in Ondo Kingsley is to spend the rest of his life behind bars for raping a 14-year-old girl and infecting her with Hepatitis B. Justice Bode Adegbehingbe of an Ondo State High Court sitting in Akure, who gave the judgement after a two-year trial, said the weight of evidence proved without doubt that Kingsley was guilty of the one-count charge of rape. Missing child: Court refuses Alfa Babatunde bail

Justice Olusegun Odusola, of an Akure High Court yesterday refused to grant the bail application of the Sotitobire Praising Chapel church prophet, Alfa Babatunde and the six other defendants that were facing trial along with him. While delivering the ruling, the judge held that the bail applications were refused due to the fact that the grounds for their bail application were not in accordance with the law. It would be recalled that on the June 24, 2020, the court had received an application for bail and thereafter fixed July 30 for the ruling on the bail application brought by the lead Counsel to the prophet, Olusola Oke, on health grounds. Akinyemi Omoware, lawyer representing other defendants, also moved an application for the bail of the other church workers. The prosecution counsel, led by Bola Ogundadegbe of the Ministry of Justice, however, opposed the applications before the court. Man beats pregnant wife to death in Ondo

For allegedly killing his pregnant wife identified as Blessing,  Oluwaseun Olabode,(Husband) has been arraigned before an Ondo State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Akure on a  count charge of murder.  Olabode was arrested by the police at the Oke Ogba area of Akure for allegedly killing the deceased by hitting her in the abdomen. Police prosecutor, Inspector Uloh Goodluck, said the offence is punishable under Section 319 (1) of the Criminal Code, Cap 36, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State. According to him, the court should remand defendant in police custody pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions. Counsel to the defendant, Mr A. Ololike, did not oppose the remand application. The trial Magistrate, Mr N. T. Aladejana, ordered that Oluwaseun be remanded in police custody pending legal advice from the DPP and adjourned the case till September 8, 2020, for mentioning.
