The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ondo State Council, has inaugurated the 7-member Planning Committee put together to organize the 2025 Ondo media/Press Week Celebrations. The 7-member committee has Banjo Egunjobi as the Committee's Chairman and Jacob Akintunde as Secretary. Other members of the committee are Adedotun Ajayi, Olufisoye Adenitan, Kunle Ajibogun and Omoriola Hungbeji, while the State Secretary will represent the State Executive in the Committee. A statement by the Secretary of the union, Olaoluwa Meshack says the 2025 Media/Press Week will hold between 14 and 21 December, this year. A community policing group, Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) has sought partnership with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Ondo State to combat cultism, hard drug abuse, thuggery and other social vices in the state.  Princess Regina Mogbojuri, the State Chairman of the group, on Monday at the state council of NUJ in Akure, said the role of media could not be overemphasised.  According to the group's Boss who is also a Retired top Police Officer, the campaign is set up nationwide by the office of the  Inspector-General of Police (IGP), and it uses 3 steps of sensitisation, orientation and rehabilitation. By Olu Kay, Owo  In a heartwarming display of kindness, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the Chief Press Secretary to the Ondo State Governor, visited Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, to support a determined student with a physical challenge.  Omolara Enikanoselu, a student in the Department of Science Laboratory Technology, was the recipient of the generous gesture. Newsline NG learnt that Adeniyan presented Omolara with a new wheelchair, phone, powerbank, and an offer to cover her tuition for the next academic session.  Adeniyan, on his Official Facebook page sighted by our correspondent, noted that the gesture will go a long way in supporting Omolara's academic pursuits and improving her overall experience. The NARD President at  UCH, Dr Gboyega Ajibola, disclosed this  to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in  Ibadan Sunday. A political support group, BTO4PBAT2027, has been launched in Ondo State with a firm resolve to work towards the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027. The colourful inauguration took place in Arigidi Akoko, in  Akoko North West Local Government, where over 350 beneficiaries received a cash donation  as part of the group’s grassroots empowerment programme. The Ondo State Government has clarified that the individuals who staged a protest at the Governor’s Office in Akure on Friday are not recognized teachers in the state service but rather job applicants who fell victim to fraud. According to the Chief Press Secretary to Ondo State Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the protesters had allegedly paid money to scammers who deceived them with fake appointment letters purportedly issued by the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM). “Please note that those who protested are not teachers but applicants who were duped by some individuals during the recruitment process. They all paid money to scammers who issued them fake letters of appointment,” Adeniyan said in a statement.
