IGP Egbetokun resigns

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has resigned from office at the request of President Bola Tinubu, sources within the Presidency have confirmed. A source who spoke with Premium Times disclosed that Egbetokun was asked to step down during a meeting with the President at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Monday. He is to be replaced by Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu. Although no official announcement had been made as of the time of filing this report, sources at the Presidency and the Force Headquarters said preparations were underway for a formal handover ceremony. An official announcement is expected later on Tuesday. Calls to the presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, and the Force Public Relations Officer, Ben Hundeyin, were unsuccessful at the time of this report. CAN donates bags of rice to orphanages, physically challenged in Oyo

By Chidinma Ewunonu-Aluko, Ibadan   The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Oyo State has donated bags of rice to some orphanages and homes for physically challenged students in Ibadan. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the  chairman and secretary of the association, Dr Elisha Ogundiya and Very Rev. Tope Owolabi, among other executive members visited some Homes and schools for the physically challenged to distribute the bags of rice. Among the homes visited are: Oluyole Cheshire Home, Bam Dell Disabilities and Orphanage Home, Omoyemi Special Basic School, Fahpac Shelter and Adamasingba Sports Centre for the Physically Challenged. Ogundiya said that the gesture was to lend a helping hand, considering the economic situation in the country. FUOYE announces Dr. Sunday Saanu as Director of Public Relations

The Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has announced the appointment of Dr. Sunday Saanu as its new Director of Public Relations . The appointment was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday in Oye-Ekiti by the institution’s Registrar, Mufutau Ibrahim.  According to the statement, Dr. Saanu will serve as the Director of Communication and Corporate Affairs of the university.  He is described as a seasoned communication expert and accomplished journalist with extensive experience spanning both public and private tertiary institutions. Dr. Saanu previously served as Media Assistant to four Vice Chancellors at the University of Ibadan, where he garnered significant experience in university administration and media relations. Exam Fraud Scandal Rocks RUGIPO

The Ondo State Public Complaints, Financial Crimes and Anti-Corruption Commission (OSPFACC) has interrogated two lecturers of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic (RUGIPO), Owo, over allegations bordering on examination result manipulation and administrative misconduct within the institution. The lecturers invited for questioning are Mr. Oluwasegun Olowoyo of the Department of Languages, who teaches Communication-in-English, and a former Head of Department, Mr. Segun Aminu. The commission’s intervention followed a petition dated January 29, 2026, submitted through the Office of the Ondo State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice. The petition alleged academic fraud, administrative malpractice, and the suppression of whistleblowers, implicating certain staff members and elements within the institution’s management. The Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC) has closely monitored recent developments concerning Eba Island, particularly following reports of oil discovery and the ensuing territorial claims. After a careful review of historical records, traditional authority structures, and long-standing administrative practices, the Commission affirms unequivocally that Eba Island forms part of Atijere Kingdom, Mahin Ward 4, in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State.  The island has been continuously inhabited by the Ilaje people and administered under the recognised traditional institutions of the Amapetu of Mahinland and the Molokun of Atijere, within the constitutional framework of Ondo State. The highly entertaining match, held at the ABUAD Sports Complex in Ado-Ekiti, saw the FUOYE MLS team dominate proceedings from start to finish, showcasing tactical discipline and attacking prowess. Right from the sound of the opening whistle, FUOYE asserted their authority, controlling possession and pressing aggressively.
