Ondo: Driver, Passengers escape death, as bus catches fire

Many passengers escaped death on Monday after a luxury bus coming from Abuja suddenly caught fire in Arigidi-Agbaluku, Akoko North West Local Government Area of Ondo State.  It was gathered that the passengers left their belongings and alighted quickly as the large inferno engulfed the bus.  An eyewitness at the scene of the incident, Jamiu Alli, urged the state government to rejuvenate the fire station in Ikare-Akoko. He added that as way of repressing future occurrence, government needs to establish fire stations across the 18 council areas of the state.  Confirming the incident, the Unit Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps for Ikare,  Alabi Oluropo, said his men were making relentless efforts to ease the traffic congestion.

Amotekun nabs Man With Fresh Human Parts, 31 Others in Ondo

The Ondo State Security Network Agency codenamed ‘Amotekun’ on Monday arrested a 30 year- old man, Timothy Odeniyi with fresh human parts at Ondo town, headquarters of Ondo West Local Government Area of the state. The state Commander of the Amotekun corps, Adetunji Adeleye, while parading the suspects alongside 31 others in Akure , explained that 150 suspects were arrested in the month of January, 2022, stressing that the suspects were arrested for their involvement in various criminal activities in the state. He said: “Lately, the trend is shifting from daily kidnaping to ritual killings. He was caught and arrested with parts of human being wrapped in a bag and upon interrogation, he took us to where he got the person killed and buried in a shallow grave. We want the public to be careful of who they go out with. “Other suspects in our custody were arrested for kidnapping, armed robbery, vandalization of power lines under construction as well as underage grazing”. AAUA: Academic activities resumes, as VC Assesses Exams

By Olu Kay The Management of Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Akoko has announced that the Academic Activities has resumed on Monday  with continuation of the first semester examinations.  Recalled that the Academic activities  was suspended on Monday, November 22, 2021 following a violent protest by students of the Institution.   Speaking with the Information Unit of the University after monitoring the examination across seven faculties, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, expressed satisfaction over the ongoing examinations, and commended the promptness of both staff and students. Prof Ige said, It is obvious that academic activities have resumed on our campus. Ondo: 20-year-old girl hacked to death

A young lady, Ebunoluwa Osatuyi, has been killed by yet-to-be-identified persons in her father’s house at the Okuta Elerinla area of Akure, the state capital. Osatuyi, 20, was seeking admission into a university before her untimely death. It was gathered that she was killed shortly after she returned from a coaching centre where was taking tutorials ahead of the forthcoming Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination. A source in the area stated that the alleged killers gained access to the house through the windows and ransacked all the rooms in the house. The reason for taking the life of the young lady was yet unknown as of the time of filing this report. The deceased’s mother, Bosede Osatuyi, said when she came back from work on the fateful day, she met her daughter in the pool of blood. She added that she also saw an axe and a pestle in the sitting room where the victim was killed. Government resettled 400 destitutes in Oyo

The government of Oyo State, on Wednesday, again evacuated over 400 beggars and destitute within Ibadan metropolis. It equally declared its plans to provide another resettlement centre for the beggars and destitutes in the capital city. The State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Alhaja Kafilat Olayiwola, stated this when she led the raiding team on evacuation of beggars and destitute from Jemibewon/Mokola/ Sango University of Ibadan main gate. Other areas captured during the evacuation exercise include: Challenge/Oja'ba, Oje/Bodija, Iwo road/Gbagi and Basorun Akobo routes. Ondo: Lawmaker, Akingbaso empowers constituents

The handball competition for the under-12 organized by the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports,South West Zone, will commence on Thursday 27rh January, 2022. Another Accident Reported In Akoko community

Another accident has been reported in Akungba Akoko, Akoko Southwest local government area of Ondo state. According to  Precision NG , it was a J5 bus that hit a long truck from behind, causing the death of the bus driver. The public relations officer of the student union body of Adekunle Ajasin University, Simbo Akinsulure who confirmed the incident attributed the collision to a possible break failure from the J5 bus. Another community leader, Ahmed Asefon said the accident happened along the Adefarati section of the major road that pass through the town to Ikare Akoko.

Oyemekun Principal commends Akeredolu over payment of WAEC fees

Ondo State Government has expressed its commitment to educating residents on  the importance of Home Ownership Charter of Ondo State (HOCOS), a newly established agency in the State . The scheme is a novel initiative of the State Government aimed at ensuring that every residents who owns residential property has proper and genuine title documents to their properties. During the awareness programme held on Friday at Ikare and Akungba Akoko, residents were urged to embrace the scheme, noting that it will give opportunity to individuals who built their properties without the state government’s approval or titles to secure a Certificate of Occupancy.
