Sunshine Queens hope of retaining their Nigeria Women Football League status received a boost following a 1-0 win over Royal Queens FC in Akure. Wednesday's penultimate matchday set off after a minute silence was observed in honour of Sunshine Queens' late  goalkeeper, Elizabeth Johnson. Soldiers Allegedly Torture Motor Dealer To Death

Mr David Adekunle, the father of an ilesa based automobile dealer, Yinka Adekunle, who was Allegedly tortured to death by some soldiers at the infantry Battalion Barracks Ibodi, Osun State has cried for justice. Narrating his ordeal in an emotion laden voice, Mr Adekunle said his  37 years old only son, Yinka was having a swell time  with his two friends at a beer parlor when a violent argument ensued between them and  two soldiers who were in mufti . According to him the soldiers purportedly called their colleague who came arm and arrested one of them, while yinka and the other escaped abandoning his vehicle at the spot. Mr Adekunle who is an estate agent said the decreased later contacted the soldiers who reportedly asked him to come with fifty thousand naira to bail his car at their barracks at Ibodi on phone. Emotion ran high as the entire Sunshine Queens and Sunshine Stars  staged a candle light procession in honour of late goalkeeper, Elizabeth Johnson (Janded) . The procession took off at the Old Garage through Stadium road, to the Ondo State Sports Complex, Saturday evening, hours after they returned from the away game against FC Robo Players and officials adorning a customised black t-shirt with Janded image, were visibly in sobering mood and could not hold back tears during the procession. Road accident claims four lives in Akoko community

No fewer than four people lost their lives, while 13 others sustained life-threatening injuries in a lone crash which occurred along Ikaram-Akunu road in Akoko North West Local Government Area of Ondo State on Saturday.  An eyewitness attributed the cause of the accident to tyre burst, saying the driver of the commercial bus with registration no —MBA 752 XA could not salvage the situation.  Mr. Oluropo Alabi, Ikare Unit Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), said the corpses were deposited at the morgue in Ikare Akoko Specialist hospital

No corps member wore long skirt in Oyo camp —NYSC reacts

The attention of the management of the NYSC Oyo State has been drawn to the video that has gone viral in the social media showing an unidentified corps member that was purportedly spotted in NYSC Oyo state camp wearing a long white skirt instead of the conventional white short.  It is important to set the record straight that the scene was never captured in Oyo camp. Corps members are mandated to always put on the white Tshirt and white short as their uniform in camp and there was never any Corps member who have refused to comply with the NYSC dress code whether based on religious belief or any other reason.  The NYSC camp is a regimented setting and no individual can be allowed to behave contrary to the rules and regulations guiding the orientation exercise.  The general public is hereby advised to disregard the video as a scenario in Oyo camp as such never happened in the permanent orientation camp, Iseyin.  Olatoye Christy Asst. Okada rider kills landlord, flees

It was a palpable tension in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital as an Okada rider, who was alleged of killing a landlord flee away after the incident.  The incident which happened at Agbon, iyana church area of ibadan resulted to Manhunt for the arrest of the fleeing Okada rider.      According to the Guardian, The suspect reportedly took to his heels after killing Asiru Adebayo early yesterday morning, following an argument over the conversion and use of the frontage of the victim’s house by commercial motorcyclists for their businesses.   The deceased was sweeping his compound at about 6:00a.m. when he sighted the suspect and his colleagues with their motorcycles parked in front of the house.   An argument was said to have ensued after the suspect accused the landlord of sweeping the dirt on the floor on him and his mates. Hoteliers send SOS to Oyo govt on multiple taxation

No corps member was shot dead in Ibadan— Nysc

The attention of the Management of NYSC has been drawn to the news making rounds in the social Media that a Corps Member was shot dead by Policemen at Ibadan while returning with his car from the weekly Community Development Service  within the Ibadan metropolis To put the records straight, no Corps member was shot in the head or chest and no life was lost during the encounter between some corps members and policemen on duty. As a matter of fact, the police authorities in Oyo state quickly intervened and the situation was immediately brought under control, and normalcy returned as expected. However, the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State has authorized an investigation into the matter to ensure that those who erred are reprimanded accordingly.

A yet-to-be identified corps member has been allegedly shot by a policeman at New garage area, ibadan, Oyo State capital on Thursday .  The incident which resulted to pandemonium in the area was between some corps members and Four police officers.  A witness who pleaded anonymity, said the officers during stop-and-search at Odo ona kekere had allegedly demanded money from them . This he said angered the corp members and they allegedly drove off in their Toyota muscle car. Landlord’s son stabbed to death in Ondo

A man identified as Sikiru Alabi Owolabi have been alleged of killing a 48-year-old man, Bolanle Adilewa at Ijo Mimo area of Akure, the Ondo State capital, on Tuesday.  It was gathered that the suspect and the deceased engaged in an argument, leading to fight which ended up stabbing the deceased to death. The deceased was said to be the son of the landlord of the suspect. According to a source, the suspect, who is said to be a shoemaker in a shop in the deceased’s father’s house, engaged the deceased in a fight following a hot argument between them. The source said, “As they were fighting, the shoemaker took a broken bottle and stabbed him (Adinlewa). He later gave up the ghost on the way to the hospital.
