Governor Makinde Makes Fresh Appointment

Governor Seyi Makinde, on Wednesday, approved the appointment of Miss Ololade Ajibola as the Senior Special Assistant (Special Duties); Alhaji Akeem Azeez as Personal Assistant (1); Mr. Samson Adejumo as Personal Assistant (2) and Mr. Isah Kabir as Principal Secretary to the  Governor . Also, the Governor approved the appointment of Professor Olawale Olakulehin as Acting Chief Medical Director, LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso. According to the statement, the appointment is with immediate effect. This was contained in a statement signed by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi. The governor, while congratulating the new appointees, asked them to see their appointments as a further call to service and urged them to discharge their duties with absolute loyalty, dedication and diligence.

Earlier on Tuesday, a high court sitting in Osogbo, Osun State, sentenced Rahmon Adedoyin, the owner of Hilton Hotel and Resorts, to death by hanging . Apart from Adedoyin, Adeniyi Aderogba and Oyetunde Kazeem, two other staff working at the hotel, were also sentenced to death for the murder of Timothy Adegoke, a master’s student at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State. Osun State Chief Judge, Justice Oyebola Ojo has sentenced Dr Rahman Adedoyin, owner of Hilton Hotel, Ile-Ife to death by hanging. Earlier, Justice Ojo declared that Adedoyin, owner of Hilton Hotel, Ile-Ife, where Timothy Adegoke, an OAU postgraduate student was allegedly killed was culpable of murder. Justice Ojo in her ongoing judgement said the owner of the hotel and two of his workers, based on the circumstances of the case established by the prosecuting counsel, Femi Falana, SAN, are found culpable of conspiracy to commit murder, and unlawful killing of the deceased. According to her, Adedoyin’s decision not to enter the witness box did not help him, as the circumstantial evidence had shifted the burden of proof on him. Court remands woman over alleged murder

By Chidinma Ewunonu-Aluko, Ibadan An Iyaganku Magistrates' Court, Ibadan, on Thursday ordered that one woman, Adeola Adebayo, 33, be remanded in Agodi correctional facility, Ibadan, for an alleged murder. Adebayo, whose residential address was not provided was charged with murder. The Magistrate, Mrs O. A. Akande did not take the plea of the defendant for want in jurisdiction.  She ordered the police to return the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice. She adjourned the case until June 14, for mention. An Ibadan-based legal practitioner, Ridwan Adekunle, on Tuesday, asked the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, to call his officers to order against any further intimidation and arrest of Ibadan-based broadcaster, Oriyomi Hamzat. This warning comes at the heels of allegations of cyberbullying by the owner of Hilton Honors Hotel, Rahmon Adedoyin, against the broadcaster. B. Oyekanmi did not take the plea of the defendant for want in jurisdiction.  She directed the police to return the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.  She adjourned the case until July 27, for mention.  The Prosecutor, ASP Sikiru Ibrahim told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence on May 10, at about 9. 30 p.m, at Adetutu road opposite Moniya police station, Ibadan.  Ibrahim alleged that Adekanbi had unlawful carnal knowledge of the 19-year-old lady without her consent.  He said the offence contravened Section 358 of the Criminal laws of Oyo State, 2000.
