Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has announced that starting in February 2025, corps members will receive an increased monthly allowance of N77,000. Ahmed shared the news on Thursday during his address to the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream II corps members in Katsina. He explained that the allowance hike has been included in the 2025 Federal Government budget "While January has come to an end, once the budget is approved, corps members will begin receiving N77,000 instead of the usual N33,000 starting next month," he stated. The NYSC DG emphasized that the Federal Government had approved the increase and encouraged corps members to express their gratitude through commitment and dedication throughout their service year. This, they made known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Ibadan. Dr Tarela Sarimiye, Consultant Ophthalmologist and Glaucoma specialist at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, remarks that regular eye check is key by an eye doctor. Sarimiye, also from the Department of Ophthalmology, University of Ibadan, urged those 35 years and above to endeavour to have glaucoma screening annually. He added that someone with a family history of glaucoma should start the screening much younger. Concerned residents of Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, have expressed concern on the rate at which businesses are being closed down as a result of armed robbery and kidnapping in the commercial centre. The NAFDAC Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye said the project focused on drug abuse education and awareness campaign on menace of drug abuse in Nigeria.
