Gov. Akeredolu graces Mrs Akpan daughter's wedding in Lagos

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, on Saturday graced the wedding ceremony of Comfort and Maxwell held in Lekki, Lagos State.  Comfort is the daughter of the Senior Special AssIstant to Governor Akeredolu on Administration and Chief Matron of Bemore Empowerment Initiative, Mrs Lizzy Akpan.  Governor Akeredolu, who also chaired the wedding reception, identified prayers and love as the fundamental ingredients for a successful marriage. He advised the young couple to understand each other and be happy, charging them to always stay together.  Governor Akeredolu prayed for the success of the union and advised the new couple to take everything with equanimity. The Governor, who urged the new couple to embrace "TALK THERAPY", said they should always talk about everything at all times. Ondo: Labour Unions hold Workers Day Celebration Tomorrow

May Day celebration popularly known as Workers Day will hold in Ondo State tomorrow Sunday 1st May, 2022 even if it clashes Eld-el-Fitri celebration. In a Statement, the Chairman of May Day Central Working Committee in the state, Comrade Festus Ekhinde, appealed to affiliate Unions of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, to mobilise their members for the May Day Rally. According to the Statement, the rally will hold at Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Archade, Akure, the State capital by 10:00am. "This is to inform all invited guests, Affiliate unions of NLC and TUC in ondo state, labour leaders, veterans, workers in the sunshine state and the general public that workers day celebration holds on 1/5/2022 as earlier scheduled," the statement reads.

World Malaria Day: Nigerians urged to keep environment clean

Nigerians have been urged to eradicate malaria as the deadly and dangerous disease has claimed more than 627 thousand lives from the 241 million people affected in 2020 Speaking at a sensitization programme held in Akure to mark the World Malaria Day, the Chief Executive Officer of Restoration of Dignity of Womanhood ROTDOW, Mrs Olabisi Omolona tasked residents to always keep their environment clean to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes which causes malaria. "In 2020, a total of 241,000,000 cases of malaria were reported while  627, 000 deaths were recorded" She charged residents to rather work with stakeholders to eradicate malaria than handling it with levity because the disease is deadly. Oyo to provide standard juvenile centre to enhance public safety -CJ

  By Chidinma Ewunonu-Aluko, Ibadan  The Oyo State Chief Judge, Justice Munta Abimbola, on Friday inaugurated a committee to midwife the establishment of a standard juvenile Correctional institution in the state. Inaugurating the committee at the state High Court Complex, Ibadan, Abimbola said the aim was to enhance public safety. He added that it was to hold young offenders accountable for their rehabilitation, protect them from harm and improve their outlook for success as responsible and productive members of the society. The Oyo State Chief Judge said that the National Human Rights Commission recognised that children could also be victims of abuse and exploitation in all forms. He said that the Child Rights law also provided other specific rights for children including the right to survival, to a name, family life, among others. Man impregnates 15-year-old daughter, attempts abortion in Ondo

Men of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested a man identified as Sunday Udoh, for allegedly impregnating his 15-year-old daughter. The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Odunlami Funmilayo, in a statement on Friday, said the 38-yr-old father also attempted to abort the pregnancy “On 26th of April, 2022, Policemen attached to Ile-Oluji Division received a complaint of an attempt to procure abortion by one Sunday Udoh ‘m’, Aged 38, at a health care centre in Ile-Oluji”  “During investigation, it was revealed that the suspect was attempting to procure abortion for her daughter (Name withheld) of about 15 years old whom he has been been having sexual intercourse with”  “The case is currently being handled by the Gender Office of the State Criminal Investigation Department in Akure”

No fewer than 200 women across Ondo South Senatorial district have been empowered and trained on soap making, air freshener and germicides. They were also trained on antiseptic, nail polish remover, insecticides and adire, which was said to be first of its kind in the area. A correspondence to the University from the Director of Accreditation, Dr. Maryam Sali, has the programmes listed: Fisheries and Aquaculture, Performing Arts, Mathematics, Microbiology, and Mass Communication. Late Sunshine Queens Goalkeeper Buried In Ilorin Amid Tears

Emotion flows at it peak as the remains of the late Sunshine Queens Goalkeeper, Elizabeth Johnson Black (Janded) was interred at her residence in Ilorin, Kwara State on Saturday. Players and Officials of the team led by a member of the Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA) Management Committee, Prince Tunde Ogunja were on ground to pay their last respect to the ex -international who died on February 19 2022 after a brief illness. The angry mob, amongst other grievances against the police, thronged the Police Divisional Headquarters in Kajola, throwing stones and other objects to protest the killing  of their indigenes at the police checkpoints in the area, along Lagos/Benin Expressways on Saturday evening. They reportedly dumped the three corpses at the Police Divisional Headquarters, Kajola, chanting series of protest songs to register their grievances and declared that they do not want to see police in the community again.
