The Acting Director General, National Youth Service Corps, Mrs Christy Ifeyinwa Uba has tasked Corps Members on building a United nation .
She said nation builders are those members of a state who take the initiative to develop their nation communities through intervention programmes.
She made the Statement at the Swearing -In Ceremony of the 2022 Batch’C’ Stream two corps members deployed to Oyo and dislodged from Lagos at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp,Iseyin.
The Acting Director General who was represented by the NYSC Oyo State Coordinator, Mrs Grace Ogbuogebe said the deployment of the Prospective Corps members from their state of origin to different parts of the country will offer them the opportunity to know more about other cultures, geography and resources of Nigeria and to proffer solution to challenges of the country.
She also stated that the Orientation Course is one of the four Cardinal programmes of the NYSC designed to train the Prospective Corps members on leadership roles and patriotic disposition for the growth of the nation.
Uba therefore urged the Corps members to participate actively in all the camp activities like the professional lectures, traditional lectures and physical activities like drills, martial arts among others for self actualisation and readiness for the task of the service year ahead of them.
She also enjoined the corps members to seize the opportunity of the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship (SAED)Programme to choose from the skill sets right from Camp to be self reliant.
The NYSC Boss advised the Corps members to continue to comply with all the rules and regulations guiding the Camp while urging them to familiarize themselves with the provision of the NYSC Acts and Bye-Laws and maintain high level of discipline throughout the service year and beyond.
She also warned them to avoid using the social media to spread fake news and fuel hatred among the people of Nigeria but they should rather deploy their energy and ingenuity for self and national development.
She equally used the opportunity to solicit for the support of all stakeholders towards the establishment of NYSC Trust Fund which will aid the smooth running of the NYSC and also make way for the provision of soft loans to Corps Members as start up capital for their businesses.
Newsline NG however observed that 1,131 corps members comprising 454 males and 677 females were posted to Oyo state.
Our correspondent also learnt that some corps members were dislodged from Lagos to Oyo state NYSC orientation camp for the three weeks orientation exercise.
The corps members were earlier administered oath of allegiance by the Chief Judge of Oyo state, Justice Munktar Abimbola who was represented at the occasion by Honourable Justice Iyabo Yerinma.
