PRESS RELEASE The Ondo State Police Command has arrested one Nkanu Patrick ‘m’ Aged 50 years for impersonation as an Assistant Superintendent of Police. On the 23rd of February, 2022 at about 2.00pm a team of Policemen attached to Ore Division who were on stop and search duty along Benin/Ore Expressway and intercepted a Volkswagen Mini Bus carrying Pharmaceutical Products enroute Benin being escorted by the suspect in a complete Police camouflage uniform. His dressing arose the suspicion of the Policemen on duty and had to probe further into his particulars, when asked of his identity, he could not give satisfactory account of himself as a Police officer. Investigation however, revealed that the suspect, Nkanu Patrick has never been a Policeman but was close to Policemen in his area. He will soon be charged to Court. The Nigerian police today arrested activist and publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore .  Mr Sowore’s lawyer, Inibehe Effiong disclosed this via his Twitter handle saying that police laid ambush and arrested the Publisher who was in the Appeal Court earlier today for his case.  “| just stepped out of the Court of Appeal in Abuja with Omoyele Sowore after our case only for the Police to lay ambush and arrest him outside the Court. He has been taken away (presumably to former SARS Office in Abuja),” Mr Effiong tweeted.  Details of why Mr Sowore was arrested is yet to be known.  Before now, in 2020, Mr Sowore was arrested by the Nigerian police for staging a rally on the New Year eve.  Mr Sowore was first arrested and detained for close to five months by the State Security Service for planning to stage a nationwide protest tagged: #RevolutionNow in 2019.

For generating over N165m last year,  the Chairman of Ondo State Internal Revenue Service (ODIRS), Mr. Tolu Adegbie, has commended the state judiciary, saying the  amount generated is the highest in the history of the third arm of the government in the state.   This is just as the judiciary arm of government promised to do more this year. Adegbie stated this at the inauguration of a newly built toilet and another renovated toilet at the premises of the State High Court Headquarters for judiciary workers on Friday in Akure.
