At the empowerment programme on Friday in Ibadan, Jaiyeoba said  that 24 people had received the POS machine while 26 would soon get. Jaiyeoba, who is the Councillor representing Ward Seven in the  legislative arm of the local government, said that all the beneficiaries had been shortlisted. He added that they participated in an extensive training in POS business in April. PRESS STATEMENT Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has approved the appointment of Pastor Kayode Olaniyi Ogundele as the Head of the Ondo State Public Service. The appointment is in recognition of Ogundele’s rich experience in the State Public Service and his track records of years of dedication and efficiency.  His appointment follows the statutory retirement of the incumbent Head of Service, Pastor John Adeyemo,mni who will be bowing out of the Service on August 2, 2022. An Akure High Court has granted the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) the leeway to prosecute the Speaker of Ondo State House of Assembly, Mr David Oleyeloogun and some lawmakers for alleged fraud . Justice Adegboyega Adebusuyi granted the order sequel to the application by lawyer to the anti graft commission, Mr. Fredrick Dibang seeking the prosecution of the lawmakers for an alleged fraud committed in 2019. The Ondo State Police Command has debunked reports of a midnight terrorist attack on the Okuta Elerinla Police Division of the Command in Akure. In a statement by the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Funmi Odunlami, the attack which were carried out by some hoodlums was repelled by policemen on duty which made them unable to gain entrance into the station. Odunlami however added that during the cross fire, one of the station's guards Inspector Temenu Boluwaji was hit by a bullet, but later died on his way to the hospital. Meanwhile, The Commissioner of Police CP Oyeyemi Adesoye Oyediran has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case and ensure the perpetrators are arrested. According to the museum, the new artifacts ranges from Aso Ofi lurex, shine-shine variance of wool, new currency denominations, live and light music and use of flex for still images. The synchronised television display and change of old exhibitions to new ones, were also part of the new artifacts. The Museum Curator, Sikiru Adedoyin, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Ibadan  that the artefacts were on rotational loan from other museums. According to him, some others were retrieved from stores, to replace the already displayed ones in the gallery. Adedoyin said the commission was commissioning its archaeologists and professionals to the field, for new and more discoveries. Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has directed the Head of Service to dismiss officers who are receiving double salaries from the state payroll. Governor Akeredolu gave the directive while receiving the report of the Committee for Verification, Scrutinization and Clean-up of the State Payroll. The Governor, who suspected that the State Payroll including salaries and pensions had been compromised, set up a seven-member committee to continuously clean up the payroll of infractions. The committee, led by the Chairman and former Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Victor Olajorin, on Wednesday submitted its report to the Governor at his office, Alagbaka, Akure. The family of a 14-year-old female student of the Federal Government Girls College, Oyo (name withheld) has demanded justice over the alleged sexual abuse of the girl by one of the teachers in the school, Mr. Timothy Alayoteti. An elder sister of the victim, Mercy Gabriel, said at a press briefing in Ibadan, disclosed that her sister had been traumatized as a result of the action of the teacher. The sister said the family was more pained by the action of the principal of the school, who she claimed did nothing to expose the accused teacher after the case was reported to her. President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, to resolve the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and other university-based unions. ASUU had commenced strike on February 14, and other unions also joined them over the alleged inability of the federal government to meet up with their demands. Buhari gave the directive Tuesday after receiving briefings from the relevant government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) involved in the ongoing efforts to end the face-off with the university unions. The president summoned them to get more information on why the strike had persisted for too long.
