Easter: Demonstrate selflessness, love towards each other, Ibadan cleric tells Christians

As Nigeria prepares for transition from one political administration to another, there is the need for current and incoming leaders in the country to demonstrate selflessness and love towards citizens as demonstrated by Jesus Christ . The Minister in charge of The Gospel Faith Mission International, GOFAMINT, Elewi - Odo Assembly, Pastor Akinsanmi Aro, gave the advice while speaking with Radio Nigeria on the significance of the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the cross. Pastor Aro explained that love and selflessness which were lacking among Nigerian leaders had accounted for the prevailing poverty level and suffering among the citizens.   The cleric who said the resurrection of Jesus Christ reflected hope in the betterment of Nigeria calls for rededication to God, religious tolerance, transparency, equity and justice in the country. He also called on Christians for continued prayers for peaceful co-existence and security in the country.

Easter: CAN, PFN task Christians to be proactive, involved in politics

The Oyo State CAN Chairman, Apostle Joshua Akinyemiju made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Ibadan. Good Friday: We must repent, take positive actions, Clerics urge Nigerians

By Chidinma Ewunonu-Aluko, ibadan As Christians celebrate Good Friday, Bishop Emmanuel Badejo of the Catholic Diocese of Oyo  has urged all Nigerians to use the opportunity to repent and take positive actions toward God and humanity. Badejo made the call in a statement he  made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday from Oyo Town. He remarked that Good Friday called for all Christians to be faithful to their Christian calling. “Jesus died to save lives, and all who destroy it and cause others to do so can neither worship Him nor win his favour. “All must remember that they will have to account before the Creator and face the verdict of history and posterity. “It calls on people in power to repent and address the needless bloodshed, suffering, and destruction being faced by millions of innocent people,” he said.
