Tragedy struck in Arigidi Akoko, in Akoko North West Local Government Area of Ondo State, as a fatal road accident claimed one life and maimed many.
The accident, it was gathered, involved one Toyota Hiace bus and a Toyota Starlet car.
According to an eyewitness, the two vehicles were both coming from a neighbouring town of Ikare-Akoko, when the 18-seater bus lost control and rammed into the small car from the rear, killing the Starlet driver on the spot.
Angered by the unfortunate incident, residents around the scene trailed the bus, but efforts to track down the hit-an-run driver were not successful, as he fled into thin air.
The Police later took the corpse to a nearby morgue while the injured were taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.
As of the time of filing this report, the Ikare Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission could not be reached for comments.
Similarly, a yet-to-be identified man has been reported dead few minutes ago as an accident occurred around Agbogbo/Fiwasaye Road in Akure, Ondo State Capital.
Sources disclosed that the accident was caused by a car that somersaulted.
