Reject Akinjo, Ajayi In Ugbo Kingdom, Olugbo tells subjects.

The Paramount Ruler of Ugbo land in Ilaje local government area of Ondo State, Oba Fredrick Eniolorunda Akinruntan, CON, has sent a strong warning to his subjects, particularly his Baales, not to campaign and vote for any PDP candidates in the forthcoming general elections.

The monarch specifically mentioned the names of the PDP's southern senatorial candidate, Hon. Agboola Ajayi and the Ilaje/Ese-Odo federal constituency candidate, Hon. Victor Akinjo as those that must not get votes in the oilrich Ilaje kingdom.

He revealed that they have resolved to work and vote for all APC candidates from Presidentials to the State House of Assembly.

Olugbo gave this directive to his people while receiving the entourage of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led by the Ondo State Deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa and Chief Olusola Oke, SAN who had gone to present the party’s House of Representatives candidate, Hon. Donald Ojogo in his Palace in Ugbo Kingdom.

Oba Akinruntan noted that he and his subject had unanimously agreed that for equity and fairness, the Arogbo-Ijaws from Ese-Odo local government should be allowed to produce the next House of Representatives lawmaker for the federal constituency.

According to him, the ambition of Hon Akinjo and who hails from Ilaje local government is dead on arrival, adding that he won't get his blessing to go to the House of Representatives for the third time.

“We have resolved that we are voting all the APC candidates from top to the bottom in my kingdom. I have openly endorsed the APC Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and we are working for him assiduously to get the highest votes in our kingdom.

“Also, we have endorsed the APC senatorial candidate, Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim, the House of Representatives candidate for Ilaje/Ese-Odo federal constituency, Hon. Ojogo and the APC candidate for the Ilaje State Constituency I, Hon Abayomi Akinrutan.

“This time around, we are not supporting Akinjo for the third term in the National Assembly. We muat be fair to our brothers and ensure we deliver Ojogo. All of ypu must commence house to house campaign in your domains for Tinubu, Jimoh, Ojogo and Abayomi.

"Despite that he is one of us. Two-term is enough for the Ilajes and we should allow Ese-Odo, particularly the Ijaws who have never produced a House Representatives lawmaker to go”, the monarch said.

Speaking earlier, Oke, who hails from the oilrich area highlighted that it was unthinkable for the PDP House of Representatives candidate to aspire for the third time.

"Akinjo's ambition is not just untenable, it's an insult on our people whose goodwill he used to return for the second time. We gave him our support as Ugbo people in 2019 when we the Ilajes were seemingly schemed out of equation in the APC.

"We resolved to give him our votes because we felt it was not right for one local government, Ese-Odo to have both the Deputy Governor and the House of Representatives seat. This time around, the equation does not favour Ilaje to have both the deputy governor and the House of Representatives seat. We have resolced to instil natural justice, fairness and equity.
