Gunmen Storms Church, Abduct Cleric, Members
Suspected gunmen have abducted an NKST Church cleric, Rev. Dr. Samuel Gbinde, along with two members of his congregation during an attack on church premises in Benue State. The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Tuesday when the assailants invaded the pastor’s residence located within the NKST Church compound in Andyar, Ishan Classis area of the state. Confirming the development in a statement dated June 30, the General Secretary of the church, Rev. Dr. T. A. Targba, described the incident as unfortunate and called on Christians and members of the public to pray for the safe and unconditional release of the victims. According to the church, the attackers forcefully took away the cleric and the two worshippers before fleeing to an unknown destination.
