The Osun State Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Tosin Odeyemi, has resigned from the NNPP and joined the newly registered Democratic Leadership Alliance . Odeyemi, an ally of former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, announced his resignation in a letter dated July 16. The Ondo State Police Command has arrested one Amos Paul, a resident of Unaun, Upenme, Owo Local Government Area, for allegedly inflicting grievous bodily harm on his 10-year-old daughter. The incident, which was reported to the Police on Thursday, 16th July, 2026, revealed that the suspect allegedly used a hot pressing iron to burn the private part of his daughter, as punishment for bed-wetting. Akintayo disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Ibadan. She said that gender-based violence and child rights violations were the most reported cases. “The highest percentage relates to gender-based violence and child rights violations such as child abuse, sexual violence, defilement, and denial of maintenance; these remain the most prevalent,” she said. The network made this known in a statement issued on Monday in Ibadan, by its State Coordinator, Dr Rosemary Odigbo. The News Agency  of Nigeria (NAN) reports the pupils and teachers  abducted during the attack on Ahoro-Esiele Community, in Oriire Local Government Area (LGA), were rescued on Friday. A 30-year-old man, Musbawu Amodu, has been arrested by the Nasarawa State Police Command for allegedly beating his wife to death following a domestic dispute in Agyaragu, Obi Local Government Area of the state .
